The
Jaycees recognize four areas that are vitally
important to be a well-rounded individual.
These areas form the total Jaycee Concept.
All are interdependent on one another.
Projects and programs run in Community Development,
Business Development, Individual Development,
and International Involvement
have been proven that both the community and
the individual will benefit from the Jaycee
Concept.
Community Development focuses on service to
the needs of our community .Projects in this
area allows our members to become involved
in , charities, environmental needs,
youth, elderly, USJCC programs, and other
events in the East Texas area. USJCC programs include: Community Service; Community
Fund Raising; Government Involvement; and
State and National Jaycee Involvement.
Business Development focuses on running
our chapter like a corporation. This
area allows us to work with other people on
projects while using our business/management
planning skills (Chairman's Planning Guide).
To aid in this the USJCC provides information
to officers to give them the knowledge to
run our local chapter. Our chapter uses "The
Book" for local chapter presidents, chapter
plan of action, parliamentary procedure and
public relations materials. USJCC programs include: Public Relations; Financial
Management; Chapter Activities; and Chapter
Management.
Individual Development focuses on training
on today's most popular subjects, such as
Personal Improvement, Leadership Skills, Communications
Dynamics, Time Management and Stress Endurance.
Our two most popular programs are Write-Up
and Speak-Up. Competition is held each trimester
at the State Convention/Conference. These
programs give you the opportunity to polish
your business writing skills and your public
speaking skills. The winners at state competitions
have the opportunity to compete nationally
at the USJCC Annual Meeting in June. USJCC
Pinnacles (programs) include: Leadership Development;
Life Improvement; and Business Opportunities.
Individual Development also focuses on orienting,
networking and sharing the Jaycee experience.
This area is the most important area because
it focuses on you, the member. Through socials,
recruiting, establishing new chapters, orientations,
visitations to other chapters and other chapter
activities you are offered the opportunity
to grow, meet new people, and offer the Jaycee
experience to your friends, neighbors and
co-workers.
International Involvement focuses on activities
related to Junior Chamber International, World
Congress and any other international event.
This area gives the member an opportunity
to learn about business and personal skills
in other countries. . |
